When you work with Dodson Builders Construction, Inc. you’ll notice a different, enhanced level of customer service than you may be used to. We know that constant communication is key to keeping all parties well informed, and we’re dedicated to making sure your life is as easy and stress free as possible throughout your entire project. At Dodson, we have a a process that we designed to makes sure our clients are always shown a clear plan, vision and direction for their construction project.
During the first call, our goal is to listen and learn as much as we can about your project. We do this by asking a series of questions about your home, your future plans for your home, and your past experience with remodeling. We also ask about your ideas, thoughts, and plans for the space, if you have any specific materials and/or products in mind, and what your budget is for the project.
Lastly, we get your contact information and schedule a time to do an on-site consultation at your home.
During the on-site consultation you can expect to discuss all aspects of the project including the room or rooms for the project will take place the overall design desired start and or completion dates and what your needs are for the renovation. We will take any necessary measurements and make a list of the specific features.
After gathering all necessary information we will put together a good-better-best cost comparison which includes a rough “ballpark” price range for your project. Without having a detailed design and material selections complete, it is impossible for us to know exactly how much your project is going to cost.
After the cost comparison is completed, we will arrange a second meeting with you to discuss the pricing. This is a no-pressure meeting. We do not expect you to make a decision to hire us at this point, and we will not push you to. We encourage you to evaluate all your options and make the decision that works best for you and your situation!
Should you decide to move forward with the process, a third meeting will be arranged.
When you’re ready to move forward with the process, a third meaning is arranged. This phase involves signing the design agreement and collecting the design fee. This agreement lets us know that you’re committed to working with our company, and gives us the green light to gather the necessary materials for your project.
The design fee is based on the size and scope of the project, as well as the amount of design and estimating hours involved. Typically, there can be anywhere from 30 -40 hours of work involved in the design phase of a kitchen or bathroom remodel.
It is important for you to know that the design process is a collaborative effort. We ask questions, listen to your ideas, and then make suggestions that you may not have thought of. Sometimes, the design and budget just don’t work. We’re here to bring them together.
This phase can also be the longest phase of the entire process. We try to make it as quick and easy on you as possible, but these steps are essential in order for us to provide you with an accurate and detailed estimate.
Once the design has been completed and all of the selections have been made for your project we will schedule a pre-contract meeting. The project designer and project manager will attend the meeting at your home. The purpose of the pre-contact meeting is to review the project in it entirety, propose the completed design, and make sure everything has been thought of.
Planning is the most important part of any project. With proper planning, most, if not all of the events that make up the horror stories in our industry can be eliminated. With proper planning there should be no “surprises”.
The next step after the pre-contract meeting is to finalize the proposal and submit an up-to-date proposal based on the current design, scope of work, and selections you have made. There may be some negotiating on the proposal at this point. You may want to add an item that you had previously not included, or remove a few of the selections to bring the cost down. Once the proposal meets your approval we will schedule a meeting for the contract signing, were we will set the start date and terms.
During the contract singing you will receive the production schedule for your project. This will include the material order lead-time, the payment schedule, and what will be happening every day through out the duration of your project.
During the production phase, we will keep you regularly informed and updated on the progress of your project. We are available to you for any questions or last minuet changes. Our staff will protect your home through out the project using tarps and carpet protectors on the flooring. Putting up plastic and running a HEPA air filtration system to control the dust.
Our projects are cleaned daily and our staff is polite, courteous, and a pleasure to work with. Our trade contractors are accustomed to our job site requirements and abide by our agreements.
